Behaviorism
A theory of learning holding that behaviour is acquired through conditioning and shaped by interaction with the environment, focusing on observable responses rather than internal mental states.
Associated with figures such as Pavlov, Watson and Skinner, behaviorism explains learning through stimulus, response and reinforcement. In education it underpins practices such as drill and practice, reward systems and programmed instruction.
While later movements such as cognitivism and constructivism broadened the picture to include mental processes, behaviorist principles still inform classroom management, gamification and adaptive-learning reward loops.
