A theory, associated with Albert Bandura, holding that people learn by observing, imitating and modelling the behaviour, attitudes and outcomes of others.

Social learning theory bridges behaviourist and cognitive views, emphasising attention, retention, reproduction and motivation. It explains the power of role models, peer influence and demonstration in learning, and informs collaborative and peer-based teaching.
