A subset of AI in which systems learn patterns from data and improve at a task without being explicitly programmed.

Machine learning includes supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement approaches and underlies most modern AI applications, from recommendation to prediction. In education it powers adaptive learning and early-warning systems.
